The Kasoa Divisional Police Command has began investigations into the murder of 11-year-old Ishmael Mensah who was allegedly killed by two teenagers for rituals.
According to Deputy Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Ghana Police Service, Sergeant Evans Enttiee, both suspects, Felix Nyarko, aged16, and Nicholas Kene, aged 17, are currently in police custody. The two suspects will offer statements as part of the ongoing investigation process to assist the Police in its interrogation.
The suspects were arrested on Saturday, April 3, after residents of Kasoa Lamptey notified the Police of the sad incident surrounding the death of Ishmael.
According to the residents, the two suspects admitted killing the 11-year-old boy for rituals so as to make quick money.
However, one of the suspect’s father, Kwame Nyarko says his son was not in cahoots with the other suspect in the death of the Ishmael.
He noted that the deceased was hit on the head with a stick by the other suspect.
But according to Sergeant Evans Enttiee, ongoing investigations reveal that the two suspects had planned to take the body of the deceased for rituals on Saturday evening.
Mother of the deceased, Hajia Maame Sahadatu, who was devastated and heart broken revealed that her son was engaged in video games the last time she saw him alive.
She indicated that news regarding her son’s death was broken to her by Ishmael’s elder sister while she was taking a nap.
According to Madam Sahadatu, the news came as a surprise to her because the two suspects have dined and drank with the family and are not strangers.
Meanwhile, agitated residents of Kasoa Lamptey have threatened the lives of the two suspects should they be granted bail by the Kasoa Police after orchestrating such a hideous crime.
The remains of Ishmael Mensah have been deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary for autopsy.
Sergeant Evans Enttiee is however, calling on the general public to aid the Police in the ongoing investigations.
