Nearly 600,000 vaccines administered as of Wednesday


According to the Ghana Health Service, about 599,128 persons have been vaccinated, as of Wednesday, April 7, 2021.


The Health Service began the mass vaccination process a month ago after 600,000 jabs of the AstraZeneca vaccine were received from the Serum Institute of India.

The country became the first in the world to receive the AstraZeneca vaccines under the COVAX facility in February.


The vaccination process began with health workers, religious leaders, security officers, and other frontline workers on Tuesday, March 2, a week after the vaccines were delivered to the Country.


The country has also received an additional 50,000 jabs from the Indian government.

So far, the country has recorded a total of 91,009 cases of coronavirus infections with 88,810 recoveries.


Over 750 deaths have been recorded since the outbreak of the disease in the country since last.
