If elected, I will respect unpaid government loans owed to investors - Mahama

In his next administration, John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has promised to settle unpaid financial obligations made by the government to investors.

Mahama reiterated his commitment to upholding the sanctity of contracts even as he acknowledged the detrimental effects of broken promises on investor trust.

Speaking at the Foreign Direct Investment series in Accra, John Mahama emphasised the need of supporting measures meant to revolutionise the economy of Ghana.

"The sanctity of contracts will be upheld by a new NDC government. I know many of you have been waiting for this—properly performed contracts that benefit both the investor and the people of Ghana.

"A number of investors have expressed dissatisfaction with the government's unwillingness to fulfil unfulfilled financial obligations concerning delivered goods and services.

"We will take inventory of everything and our government will work urgently to resolve all these payment issues through a system that will be transparent and timely, just as happened when I was president," the president said in reference to the significant issue at hand.
